Hi everyone and welcome to my new blog.
I’m a self-published author, having started my writing adventure in New York in 2012, when I was based there for three months for work. I’d just got married and was about to complete a house purchase in the UK, but I left my husband to sort all that (as you can imagine, he was delighted) and skipped across the pond to happily shop in Whole Foods and wonder around Central Park.
It was during one of these wonderings that I came up with the idea for my trilogy, and, given all the free time I had at that point, I decided if I didn’t start writing it then and there, it would never happen, so I did.
Once the first book was done, I found out first hand that it really is hard to get an agent and a publisher through traditional routes. So, wanting to get on with writing, I self-published on Amazon and have been on the most amazing learning journey ever since.
Thankfully, my books have received great feedback from readers and book bloggers alike and I love being part of a supportive, international writing community (not to mention bookstagram, which is pretty much as awesome as it gets…what’s not to love about pretty pictures of all things book?!).
And, of course, I LOVE to read, preferably fantasy (current favourite is Sarah J Mass) or adventure (think Wilbur Smith). I don’t care if it’s high fantasy, low fantasy, or anywhere in between, so long as it moves quickly and has lots of plot (literary masterpieces do not find an appreciative audience here…I’m a heathen, I know). And I’ll generally like anything much better if it also has a good helping of romance – you’re with me, right?
This blog will be mostly for reviewing books I’ve read, although will probably also contain the odd mumbling of a self-published author (because I doubt I’ll be able to help myself!). Please let me know what you think in the comments – it’s always better if there’s a conversation, and be sure to sign up to my newsletter and follow on Instagram for all the latest goings on, giveaways and more.
So, welcome, and I look forward to hearing what you think!
